Sword Great Master of Temple finished in silver or black. Initially, the head of the Knights Templar was the Grand Master of Jerusalem, but maintained the same status as other teachers in the Order.

Pope Alexander III in his bull Omme datum optimum, defined the new structure of the Order.

The choice of the Master, meant the call of the Chapter with 12 members, elected through a primary election, in which a commander and a brother, chose two other members of the chapter and these at once to the following members.

When he was elected Master handed symbols: Cane and Whip. Orders of the Master, were regarded as expressing the will of God. The Master could not dispose of the assets of the Order and was allowed to give only a horse, a gold and silver vase, a robe or armor. Was prohibited gift of spears and swords.

During the campaign, the Master had a round tent over which flew the: Black and White flag with the Red Cross of the Order of the Temple, which called baucent.
