Jeireddín, better known as the pirate Barbarossa, was one of the most important sixteenth-century pirates, and with his predecessor and brother founded an organization Aruch pirate who led the North Africans (Berbers so called because they come from Barbary, which does not say they were Berbers)-under the auspices of the Ottoman Empire to achieve great power over the Mediterranean trade.

Very soon demonstrated a capacity such that deservedly come to pass to his brother, and even managed to go far beyond the exploits of this, becoming a nightmare for the Spanish Empire at the time and much of Christian Europe.
