George Washington (February 22, 1732 - December 14, 1799) Military was the first President of the United States (1789-1797) and commander in chief of the Continental Army of the revolutionary forces in the War of Independence States USA (1775-1783).
Washington began to win trophies, arming troops from Virginia (United States) to support the British Empire during the French and Indian War (1754-1763), a conflict which he had inadvertently helped start. After leading the American victory in the Revolutionary War, resigned his military office and returned to the planter's life, an act which brought him even more popularity. In 1787, he chaired the Philadelphia Convention that drafted the Constitution of the United States and in 1789, was unanimously elected as the first president of the United States. Two terms of government established many policies and traditions that exist until today. Before the expiry of his term in office, Washington retired to civilian life again, establishing an important precedent for peaceful change of government has set an example not only in America but also in other future republics.
In 1793 he founded the new capitalfederal, named Washington in his honor, but the presidential residence there would not be passed until the time of his successor in office, John Adams. Washington resigned voluntarily to be elected for a third term (for which support would not have missed), considering that the perpetuation of a president in office would be detrimental to the constitutional liberties, and established a tradition broken only by Franklin D. Roosevelt.
